My Moda Blockheads 5 Fabrics
In the spirit of using what I have on hand, I chose to use a fat quarter bundle of Songbook that I had from Fancy That Design House that I had use a few bits out of. My hope is that in the final Blockheads 5 quilt I can use some of the printed panel pieces that I also have. For the background print, I wanted to use something a little different than my normal white solids. So I purchased a few yards of a blue floral print from the Songbook, A New Page collection.
Block 2: Galaxy Star
Block 2 is designed by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree & Co. The Galaxy Star block is made with four patch corners and quarter square triangles for the edges. The quarter square triangles can seem intimidating, but if you make them slightly oversized, they are super easy to trim down. For the 12″ quilt block, the 4.5″ x 8.5″ Creative Grids ruler was perfect for me to trim each unit. I was able to use the 45 degree lines to line up along the seams of the quarter square triangle and trim.

I really love how my Moda Blockheads 5 Block 2 came out.
Blockheads 5 Progress
The blocks all together are looking very vibrant and pretty. I’m happy with my selection of the dark blue for my background fabric to anchor my blocks together.
