For block 12, I really liked the way the corners were made with a double sew and flip. It really gave the final block an interesting look.

Moda Blockheads 5.2 Block 12 Assembly
The Starling block used a lot of sew and flip corners. This is sometimes called snowballed corners. It’s a simple method of sewing a smaller piece diagonally onto the corner of a larger piece. The excess is then trimmed and the remaining piece is flipped out and ironed flat.
For fabric placement I wanted the look of concentric circles so I kept the colors going all the way around the block with the star set off in the middle with the stark contrast of the white fabric.
Starling Quilt Block
The Starling quilt block is such a pretty block with its radiating circle appearance.

I am so happy with how my blocks look in the Songbook collection by Fancy That Design House. I have kept all of my group 1 blocks to combine with my group 2 for a larger project.
