Today I’m going to share the Wipe Out Quilt. I’ve been slowly working my way through older subscription kits that I have in my stash. Many of the quilt kits are smaller projects perfect for a weekend project. A week or so before Easter, I pulled out the March 2022 Sew Sampler kit that I had in my stash.

If you aren’t familiar with Sew Sampler kits, they are a monthly subscription from the Fat Quarter Shop. Each month, you get a box full of quilty goodness. There is typically a current fabric bundle, an exclusive pattern that you can only get in the Sew Sampler box, a few new notions, and a pattern card for a block of the month.
I subscribed for a little over a year and have made many of the projects I had. But there are a few I haven’t had time to do yet.
The March 2022 box came with a pattern called Wipe Out that used 10″ inch fabric squares from The Sea and Me fabric line by Stacy Iest Hsu and a package of Snail Trail foundation papers.
If you’ve never used foundation papers before, I encourage you to watch this tutorial from Fat Quarter Shop.
There are also a few extra tools that come in handy when using foundation papers. The add-a-quarter ruler is a must have in my opinion. It makes trimming a perfect 1/4 inch seam allowance after adding fabric at each step super fast and easy.
I also recommend the glue pen from Sew Line. It temporarily affixes the first fabric piece to the paper. If you don’t want to use the glue, you can always use pins or carefully hold the fabrics in place to start.
A seam roller, like this one from Lori Holt, is also helpful to press down seams without needing an iron with each step.
These blocks come together so quickly, even with all the intricate looking pieces. I added a border according to the pattern and in just a few hours was ready to put the top on the long arm.

I backed the quilt with grey Minky fabric to make it super soft. I used the Soho quilting pantograph from Urban Elements.
Using the same border fabric for the binding, and this sweet quilt was ready to give as an Easter gift to my great-niece. I hope she loves this Wipe Out quilt.
