Laundry Basket Quilts Spring Mystery Quilt Along
I’m sewing my quilt with the Winter Garden Bundle of fabrics from Laundry Basket Quilts. These shades of blue with the cute cream background fabric is going to make a very sweet two color quilt.
Week ones mystery quilt blocks were 8 leaf blocks. Week two had quilters making 12 blue bonnet flower quilt blocks.

Week 3
For week 3, the instructions had us making 20 small daisy quilt blocks. Twenty blocks seems like a lot, but these quilt blocks are simple patchwork that uses strip piecing, nested seams, and chain piecing to make the little nine patch quilt blocks come together very quickly.
Using the pattern from Laundry Basket Quilt’s site, I pulled the blue fabrics I would be using and some background fabric.
Next, I cut the fabric strips as indicated on the quilt pattern. I chain pieced the strips together so I didn’t have to start and stop when piecing each set together.
Once the strip sets were all sewn and pressed to the dark side, I was able to sub cut the strips into the rows of three.
By pressing towards the blue fabrics on the strip sets, it allowed my quilt seams to nest perfectly and I didn’t have to pin to assemble the nine patch quilt blocks.

A little bit more chain piecing and pressing and I have my 20 Daisy Nine Patch blocks finished.
I’m ready for week 4 of the Laundry Basket Quilts Spring Mystery Quilt Along 2023.
Happy Quilting!
