The Petit Four Quilt Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop featured the 4 inch paper piecing pads for 6 different quilt blocks. For this quilt along I used scrap fabrics from the Beautiful Day fabric collection by Corey Yoder.

Petit Four Quilt Along
The Petit Four quilt along was hosted by Fat Quarter Shop to showcase their new 4 inch foundation paper pads. The pads come in a collection of the following quilt blocks
- Courthouse Steps Quilt Blocks
- Economy Quilt Blocks
- Log Cabin Quilt Blocks
- Pineapple Quilt Blocks
- Snail Trail Quilt Blocks
- Sparkle Star Quilt blocks
Each of the quilt blocks is only 4 inches finished, so the fabric pieces needed for each pieced section are small. This makes it the perfect project for scraps in your fabric stash. The finished quilt is 32.5 inches square.
Petit Four Quilt
Assembling the Petit Four Quilt was such a breeze. Each of the quilt blocks are perfectly sized due to the paper piecing pads. Each 4 1/2 inch quilt block pieced into rows for a finished size of 4 inches.
Petit Four – Pieced Backing
The backing for the Petit Four Quilt was pieced using the Sparkle Star blocks. The addition of a wide border made centering the top during long arming possible. Before loading the quilt on the long arm, I was able to mark where the top should line up to have the back properly centered. I also added a quilt label to one of the Sparkle Star quilt blocks.
Completed Petit Four Quilt
For the edge to edge pantograph, I used the Twirl pantograph by Urban Elementz. I made the pantograph quite small to go well with the tiny pieces of the quilt blocks. I’m really pleased with the results. The small size of this quilt makes it the perfect table topper or wall hanging. I think a larger throw quilt using the 4″ paper pieced blocks would be stunning.
A Closer Look
That’s a wrap on the Petit Four Quilt Along. I’m happy to say I used up nearly all of the Beautiful Day fabrics I had left. This was the perfect scrappy quilt project.
Happy Quilting!
