Celebrate with Quilts Book
The Celebrate with Quilts is a brand new book by Lissa Alexander and Susan Ache. Each of the 60 quilt block patterns have cutting instructions for 3 inch, 6 inch, 9 inch, and 12 inch finished quilt blocks. The assembly instructions for each block are so easy to follow either by the text or by the step-by-step pictures. I love a well written pattern, and I know if it’s done by It’s Sew Emma and Fat Quarter Shop, it’s going to be great.

Piece and Quilt Sampler Quilt Along – Month 5
The fifth month of the quilt along features three quilt blocks from the Celebrate with Quilts book. The blocks made this month were as follows:
- 4 – 9″ Avenue
- 1 – 9″ Maple Leaf
- 1 – 6″ Texas Puzzle
- 1 – 9″ Texas Puzzle
Using my Electric Quilt layout as a guide, I made the quilt blocks in the fabrics I already chose.
Avenue Quilt Blocks
The Avenue quilt blocks were a fun and engaging challenge this month. These blocks are a twist on the traditional nine-patch block, incorporating more complex piecing for added texture and detail. The block features Four Patch corners, double rectangle sides, and a solid square in the center. The combination of these elements results in a simple block but with a lot of visual interest.
Maple Leaf Quilt Blocks
Next, I worked on the 9″ Maple Leaf block. This block is a bit more intricate, combining squares, rectangles, and flying geese units. The Maple Leaf block is perfect for showcasing different fabrics and adding a touch of nature-inspired beauty to the quilt. I love how this block came together, with its detailed structure and vibrant appearance.
Texas Puzzle Quilt Blocks
Lastly, I created two Texas Puzzle quilt blocks, one in the 6″ size and one in the 9″ size. The Texas Puzzle block is a simple yet striking design made of four half-square triangles (HSTs) with sashing in between each HST unit. The sashing adds a distinctive element, giving the block a puzzle-like appearance. I had a lot of fun playing with color and placement for these blocks, and Iām thrilled with how they turned out.
Celebrate with Quilts
I can’t emphasize enough how invaluable the “Celebrate with Quilts” book is for every quilter. The variety of block sizes it offers allows for easy substitutions in any pattern, making it perfect for adding a unique twist to your projects. The Piece and Quilt Sampler pattern is also fantastic for scrap-busting, as it makes excellent use of those tricky low-volume fabrics in your collection.
Piece and Quilt Sampler Month 5 Reflections
As we move into the latter half of the quilt along, Iām continually impressed with how the blocks are coming together. This monthās Avenue, Maple Leaf, and Texas Puzzle blocks have added new dimensions to the quilt, and Iām eager to see the final result as the remaining months unfold.
If youāre quilting along with me, Iād love to hear how your blocks are coming together! Feel free to share your progress and any tips youāve found helpful. Happy quilting, and Iāll see you next month with more exciting blocks to create!
