This fun quilt along is happening from November 2023 to October 2024. They’ve revamped the old Shine On Sampler Quilt that was originally published in The Bonnie & Camille Quilt Bee book with the new Lighthearted fabric collection by Camille Roskelley. This new coloring of an old quilt pattern creates a refreshing twist. The quilt will be a big one, with 29 blocks and a generous size of 68.5″ x 80.5″. Let’s delve into the magic woven by the Double Star Block, The Dream Block, and the Eight Point Star Block.

Shine Bright Month 5 Block Creation Process:
Double Star Block
The Double Star Block is a simple quilt block made with 8 sew and flip rectangles sewn together on the long edge and 5 background fabric squares. By arranging the colors in a specific way, you attain a look of double layered star points. I just love the soft colors of this quilt and the daintiness really shines in this block with the teal and grey.
Dream Block
The Dream Block was a little more complex with the number of pieces it needs and the size. But if you approach it as four blocks sewn together, you can see that it’s 4 log cabin blocks that are turned 1/4 turn each time. I did have to be aware with color placement to match the recoloring pattern. I found that turning my pattern 1/4 turn to do each corner was very helpful in ensuring proper placement.
Eight Point Star Block
The Eight Point Star block is another super easy block to make. Using 4 flying geese to make the star points, it’s as easy as changing the colors to make these three separate quilt blocks to be used in my finished quilt.

There are so many quilts and projects in The Bonnie & Camille Quilt Bee book that are similar in skill and design. It uses primarily beginner piecing skills. I highly recommend this book for its many beautiful quilt projects.
