Shine Bright Sampler Quilt Month 3

Sharing is caring!

Welcome to month 3 of the Shine Bright Sampler Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop. This fun quilt along is happening from November 2023 to October 2024. They’ve revamped the old Shine On Sampler Quilt that was originally published in The Bonnie & Camille Quilt Bee book with the new Lighthearted fabric collection by Camille Roskelley. This new coloring of an old quilt pattern creates a refreshing twist. The quilt will be a big one, with 29 blocks and a generous size of 68.5″ x 80.5″.

Shine Bright Month 3 Block Creation Process:

Checkerboard Block

The Checkerboard Block is a simple patchwork block but it has 36 pieces to it! This block uses 2.5″ squares laid out in a 6 x 6 tile block with the colors oriented in diagonal lines across the block.

The Cheerful Block

The next block for the month was the Cheerful Block. The construction of this block was as simple as making 8 flying geese and arranging them in a pinwheel design.

Criss Cross Block

Lastly, the Criss Cross Block is a nine patch block with a twist. Five of the sections of the nine patch are 4 patch pieces to give a final block that appears to have a chain appearance.

Shine Bright Sampler Quilt Along Month 3

The three quilt blocks of Month 3 of the Shine Bright Sampler Quilt Along were a delight to make. The piecing was simple for each block, but the variety of sizes and colors will make the completed quilt have visual interest for a sampler style quilt. You also can’t beat the color way of the quilt.

There are so many quilts and projects in The Bonnie & Camille Quilt Bee book that are similar in skill and design. It uses primarily beginner piecing skills. I highly recommend this book for its many beautiful quilt projects.

Until next month, happy quilting!
