Long Arm Services
Longarm Quilting Services & Policies
Welcome! Below you’ll find all the details for sending your quilt to me for longarm quilting, including pricing, preparation, and what to expect.
When you’re ready, visit the Pantograph Portfolio to browse all available designs.
Most pantographs are included in my standard rate. Designs marked DENSE are priced slightly higher for their extra texture and stitch density.
Pricing
Standard Edge-to-Edge Quilting
2.5¢ per square inch
Dense Quilting Designs
4¢ per square inch
To estimate your cost:
Multiply your quilt width × length = total square inches.
Then multiply that number by your chosen rate.
Example:
60″ × 60″ = 3,600 square inches
3,600 × $0.025 = $90 quilting charge
Minimum charge: $45 for small quilts.
(Some exceptions can be made for very small projects.)
Batting
I use and recommend Quilters Dream 80/20 batting, stocked by the roll at 90″ wide.
Batting is priced at $0.40 per linear inch, measured from the roll width.
If your quilt is smaller than the roll width, I’ll cut only what’s needed for your project, and any excess batting will be returned to you.
If you prefer to send your own batting, please ensure it is at least 2″ larger than your quilt top on all four sides.
For example: a 60″ × 60″ quilt will need at least 64″ of batting to load properly.
Backing Requirements
Backing fabric must be at least 5″ larger on all four sides than your quilt top.
For a 60″ × 60″ quilt, that means your backing should measure at least 70″ × 70″.
If your backing is too small to load, additional fabric and time may be needed to enlarge it.
An additional fee (starting at $30) will apply if I need to add yardage or piece a backing for you.
You’re welcome to have your backing shipped directly from a fabric shop to me. Please confirm with me before ordering to ensure the correct size is sent.
Borders and Squaring
For the best results, please ensure your quilt top is square and your borders are flat and even.
Excess fabric in borders may cause tucks or waves during quilting.
While I do my best to minimize puckers, results cannot be guaranteed if borders are not flat.
Thread
I exclusively use Glide Thread for all longarm quilting unless other arrangements are made beforehand.
Glide produces a smooth finish and beautiful sheen that enhances the quilting design.
I keep a wide variety of colors in stock to coordinate with your quilt top and backing.
If you have a specific thread brand or color request, please reach out before sending your quilt so we can make arrangements in advance.
Shipping and Handling
Clients are responsible for all shipping costs.
- Sending your quilt:
I recommend UPS or USPS Priority Mail flat-rate boxes. These include tracking and insurance. - Returning your quilt:
I carefully package your quilt in plastic for moisture protection and reuse your box whenever possible.
Return postage will be added to your final invoice.
I am not responsible for lost or stolen packages—please insure your shipment if desired.
Billing and Payment
No payment is required up front.
Once your quilt is finished, I’ll text you photos and email an invoice with a secure payment link.
After payment is received, your quilt will be mailed back promptly with tracking provided.
Turnaround Time
Typical turnaround time is approximately 3 weeks.
This may vary slightly depending on workload and the time of year, but I’ll always communicate expected completion dates before starting.
Preparing Your Quilt
To ensure the best possible results, please follow these preparation steps:
- Press your quilt top and backing.
- Trim all loose threads from both sides of the quilt top. Dark threads can show through light fabrics.
- Backing must be at least 5″ larger on all sides than the quilt top.
- Mark the top left corner of both quilt top and backing with a pinned note if your quilt is directional.
- Minky backings can occasionally pull through to the front; for best results, choose similar color tones for top and back.
- Ensure your quilt is square. Quilts with wavy borders or uneven edges may not lie perfectly flat after quilting.
