All of the information for the week’s block is posted on the Laundry Basket Quilts blog on Wednesdays. The accompanying YouTube video is incredibly helpful. Especially this week for me. I’ve only made blocks with diamonds and bias cutting a few times and matching seams is daunting to me, but Edyta Sitar shows you exactly how to do it in her videos. I used my 4.5″ x 8.5″ Creative Grids ruler to sub cut the diamond strips.
This week we made four Peony blocks for the garden theme of the Spring Mystery Quilt Along. I’ve used the blue Winter Blossom bundle from their shop to make my blocks.
I had to use my seam ripper a few times to get this quilt block right, but I learned a few things along the way. First was to watch the video that went with the quilt along LOL.
Overall I’m happy with how my blocks came out though!
I think next week is appliquĆ© which is also a technique I don’t do often. Stay tuned!
