It’s Month 3 of the 100 Acre Wood Quilt Along with Art East Quilting Co., and this time we’re sewing the Rabbit quilt block! This block is packed with personality, and Rabbit’s expression and pose are just perfect. I’ve been loving stitching each block in this series, and Rabbit’s block is one of my favorites so far.

About the 100 Acre Wood Quilt Along
The 100 Acre Wood quilt along is a beautifully designed project featuring adorable pieced blocks that bring Winnie the Pooh and his friends to life. The quilt kit I’m using was purchased through Art East Quilting Co., but Riley Blake also offers kits through various quilt shops, including Fat Quarter Shop. The finished quilt measures 70” x 70”, though Art East is also releasing an alternative pattern for those who want to upsize their quilt to a queen-size version with additional background fabric.
One of the things I love about this quilt kit is that it’s generously cut, leaving extra fabric for each block. I decided to take advantage of this by purchasing an extra background fabric in a slightly darker shade called “Bear Lake” and cutting two sets of blocks each month. This will allow me to make two finished 100 Acre Wood quilts, making great use of the provided fabric while minimizing leftover scraps.

Month 3: Rabbit Quilt Block
The Rabbit quilt block shows vintage Rabbit standing on a blue hunny pot, which is dripping with honey on one side. He’s clutching one of his precious carrots, and the detail in this block is so fun. Art East’s instructions make assembling the many pieces simple, even for a more intricate block like this one.
Embroidery Details
Throughout the 100 Acre Wood quilt, there are small embroidery details that bring the quilt to life. For embroidery, I’ll be adding Rabbit’s whiskers and a partial “Hunny” stitched onto the pot. Like with the previous months, I’m sewing two blocks using my extra background fabric in “Bear Lake” and doubling the print cuts from the kit. I love how I’m not filling my scrap bin thanks to using up more fabrics right away.
Looking Ahead
The Riley Blake fabrics really make Rabbit pop, especially with the subtle prints and colors. Making this block was a joy, and it’s always satisfying to see the character blocks coming together as part of this sweet quilt along.
