Bunnies Blowing Bubbles Supplies

This quilt is made with the called for fabrics on the pattern with the exception of the backing which I opted to do something different.

Using Tula Pink True Colors and Tula Pink’s Besties fabrics, this quilt is as bright and colorful as it is fun. I love the 6 bunny blocks showing various stages of bubble gum blowing hijinx.

The Bunnies in the Quilt

Within the bunny quilt there are 4 different bunny blocks (2 are duplicated to make a total of 6 bunny quilt blocks). The first of the bunnies is the yellow bunny who is still chewing his gum since we don’t see any sign of the tell-tale pink bubble gum.

The next bunny is a teal bunny who is just starting to blow his bubble with the bright pink bubble gum. We can still see his eyes peeking over the top of the bubble.

Now the blue bunny has blown a serious bubble. We can’t even see his little face anymore as the bubble expands to cover it.

Uh-oh, the green bunny didn’t know his limits and his bubble has popped all over his face covering even his feet with the bright pink bubble gum!

A Bunny Backing For A Bunny Quilt

Instead of purchasing the called for 108″ wide backing for this quilt, I opted to use a coordinating True Colors fabric and piece in an additional bunny from the leftover pieces of fabric I had. (I still have one more bunny block that I’d like to use as a matching pillow soon!)

I also added in a personalized quilt label from Sweetwater fabrics.

*Note: You can order a sampler pack of personalized Sweetwater labels from Etsy too!

Blowing Up Bunnies Finished Quilt

To finish the quilt I used the pantograph “Perm” by Long Arm League. It was the perfect whimsical spiral to complement the silly bunnies.

The tiny dot from Tula Pink was the perfect binding to finish off the quilt.

Final Thoughts On This Bunny Quilt

I would be remiss if I didn’t talk a little about the pattern itself. The patterns from Art East Quilting Co are fantastic. The cater to both those who want to visually see how a pattern goes together and those who want to read the step by step instructions.

Typically when I make a quilt, I like to be able to look at the cutting instructions, and then “see” how to put the quilt together. If I don’t have to read all of the nitty gritty details in words, that is the perfect pattern for me. I guess I’m a more visual person when it comes to quilting. This pattern was detailed in both words and pictures to cater to both kinds of quilters and everything in between.

The pattern writing is phenomenal! John’s quilt designs are so adorable and fun, it’s a great departure from traditional quilting, but still uses traditional piecing methods. There are several other patterns I have my eyes on.

I hope you enjoy this up close look at my finished Blowing Up Bunnies quilt. It was certainly a fun quilt to make and use.
