Hello!  It’s been a busy week here in the Quilting Studio.  The weather has been glorious and we have some new additions to our chicken coop.  Four new babies hatched!

They are the sweetest little things and their mama is doing such a good job with them already.

Summer Memories Quilt Along

It was Week 3 of the Summer Memories Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop and Susan Ache. The third block of the Summer Picnic Quilt was another basket block made with half square triangles.  I used Flower Pot Fabric by Lella Boutique and Triangles on a Roll in the 1 1/2 inch finished size to make these blocks come together fairly quickly and very precisely.

Fruit Salad by Fig Tree and Co.

This week I also started playing around with the Fruit Salad book by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree and Co.  The book has 7 different fruit block patterns and several quilt patterns and bonus projects.  I loved all of the quilts but know that realistically I can’t make them all.  I had purchased a half yard bundle of the new Fruit Cocktail fabric line by Fig Tree, so I am playing around with the idea of making a different variation of a quilt using all of the different blocks in one layout.  This week I began making some of the different blocks.   These come together so incredibly fast that I was surprised at how many I got done.

Ultimate Travel Bag 2.0

This week I also got a good start on making an Ultimate Travel Bag 2.0 with a pattern from Patterns by Annie.

I’m using the new Everglow fabric collection by Tula Pink.  It is so vibrant and stunning.  I’m waiting on a couple hardware pieces to be able to finish this bag, but am super excited with how it looks so far.

Long Arming

I had one quilt get fully finished this week.  It was the 2022 Designer Mystery Quilt by Fat Quarter Shop.  Each month I was sent a package of fabric and a block pattern by a mystery designer of the month.  At the end of 12 months, you can combine the blocks with the separately sold finishing blocks and make a full quilt.  This quilt was very generously sized at 80″ x 80″. It is simply stunning.

I can’t wait for the 2023 Designer Mystery to start next month.  Also to note: kits from Fat Quarter Shop are incredibly generous with the amount of fabric you receive.  I have a pile of left over fabrics to use for another project.
