Cherry Tree Lane Panel Quilt Sew Along Featuring A Spoonful of Sugar Fabrics
I’m so excited to share an upcoming fabric collection and sew along that I know many of you are going to love. The Cherry Tree Lane Panel Quilt features the A Spoonful of Sugar fabric line by Jennifer Long — a charming, storybook-inspired collection based on the timeless magic of Mary Poppins.

This quilt is full of whimsical details, nostalgic scenes, and classic piecing, making it a fun and approachable project for quilters of all skill levels. I’ll be hosting a sew along starting late February, and preorders are available now in the shop.
About the A Spoonful of Sugar Fabric Collection
The A Spoonful of Sugar fabric line captures the heart of the Mary Poppins story with so much personality and charm. The prints feature beloved scenes and motifs including the chimney sweep, penguins, carousel horses, and Mary herself with her iconic umbrella.
The color palette and illustrations feel playful and storybook-inspired while still working beautifully in a quilt setting. It’s the kind of collection that makes you smile every time you sit down to sew.
The Cherry Tree Lane Panel Quilt Design
At the center of the quilt is the adorable Cherry Tree Lane panel, surrounded by pieced blocks that bring the design to life. The quilt includes house blocks, kites, and lampposts that frame the panel and create a cohesive, charming layout.
All of the house blocks in this quilt are unique, which adds so much interest and variety as you sew. The blocks are separated by sashing, with borders between sections and around the outside of the quilt for a polished finish.
The finished quilt size is 70 1/2″ x 90″, making it a generous throw or twin-size quilt.
Sew Along Details
The Cherry Tree Lane Panel Quilt Sew Along will begin late February,
as soon as the fabric arrives.
We’ll be sewing two blocks per week for a total of 10 blocks, with Week 6 dedicated to assembling the quilt top.
Each week, I’ll share my tips, guidance, and instructions right here on the blog so you can sew along at your own pace. This sew along is designed to be beginner friendly and approachable, even if you’re newer to quilting.
Techniques You Can Expect
Based on the quilt design, this project will focus on:
- Simple piecing
- Stitch-and-flip corners
- Half square triangles
- Basic block construction
I won’t know every technique involved until I receive the full pattern, but this sew along will use basic blocks only and remain very accessible for confident beginners.
Quilt Kits & Preorders
Preorders for the Cherry Tree Lane Panel Quilt kits are open now in the shop.
Each quilt kit includes:
- The Cherry Tree Lane panel
- A coordinating fat quarter bundle
- All additional fabrics needed to complete the quilt top
- Binding fabric included
- Printed Cherry Tree Lane Pattern
Backing fabric is not included, giving you the flexibility to choose a backing you love or use something from your stash.
Kits are designed so you’ll be ready to sew as soon as the sew along begins.
Coordinating Enamel Charm
In addition to the quilt kits, I’ll also be carrying the coordinating Mary Poppins enamel charm that matches the A Spoonful of Sugar collection perfectly. It’s such a fun little extra and makes a great addition to your project bag or sewing space.
Fabric Shipping & Timing
The fabric is scheduled to ship to me soon, and I’ll be starting the sew along as soon as it arrives. Once everything is in hand, I’ll share updates and reminders so you’ll know exactly when we’re getting started.
