Designer Mystery Month 10

It’s time the Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery month 10 block. Each month, participants receive a package of fabric and a quilt pattern for the block of the month from Fat Quarter Shop. Every month’s block is designed by a different quilter in the industry. This month is the Crocus block designed by Robin Pickens.

Designer Mystery Month 10 – The Crocus Block

The Crocus quilt block has a lot of pieces. It is made with mainly sew and flip corners and regular block piecing. The smaller sizes were a little bit of a challenge just because of the amount of pieces for such small blocks. But they really didn’t come out too bad for how small they are!

Extra Quilt Blocks

This year, to help use up the extra fabric from the Designer Mystery kit, Fat Quarter Shop has provided cutting instructions for additional block sizes each month. The dedicated Designer Mystery Facebook page has cutting instructions for a 6″ and 3″ block. So far I’ve been able to make both of the extra sizes and STILL have extra fabric every month. Each month before making the quilt blocks, I pull out any scraps of the same print I have left from previous months. This way I’m making efficient use of any leftovers. This will leave me with the larger pieces as leftovers at the end of the quilt along.
