As we wrap up the first three months of 2025, I’m thrilled to share a first quarter quilting update 2025. Let’s look back on all the progress I’ve made toward my quilting goals. It’s been a productive and creative start to the year, filled with finished projects, clever scrap usage, and steady progress on quilt alongs. Here’s a recap of everything I’ve accomplished so far in this first quarter quilting update 2025.

Door Banner Kits & Matching Pillows
I’ve made a lot of progress on my door banner kits this quarter:
- April and May Door Banner Kits – These were already sewn, but I finally added hanging sleeves and bindings to finish them up.
- March and June Door Banner Kits – I completed these from start to finish, including quilting, hanging sleeves, and binding.
In addition to finishing the kits, I used leftover pieces from three of them to create small bench pillows. I pieced a row from each banner, quilted them, and added a simple envelope-style back.
Creators Club Monthly Projects
Each month at my local quilt shop’s Creators Club, I’ve committed to creating two small quilting projects to showcase seasonal designs and scrap usage. These projects have helped me stay creative and consistent with my First Quarter Quilting Update 2025 goals:
January
- Winter Branches Table Runner – Made with leftover blue fabrics and a white-on-white print.
- Snow Goose Table Runner – Made entirely from leftover blues from Camille Roskelley’s Nantucket Summer collection. I even pieced the backing from scraps!
February
- Penny Candy Table Runner – Created with leftovers from a Cupid Box subscription.
- Smitten Table Runner – I added an extra heart and used the Sincerely Yours collection by Sherri and Chelsi.
March
- Shamrock Snack Mat – Made with festive greens and matching scraps.
- Lucky Table Runner – Coordinating table runner made using green scraps to match the snack mats.
April
- Bunny Ears Snack Mat – Easter-themed fun with pastel scraps
- Lil’ Umbrellas Table Runner – A cheerful spring design made using leftover Moonbeams fabric.
Extra Scrap Projects
Moonbeams Quilt Along Leftovers
As part of my goal to reduce waste and make the most of my fabric stash, I focused on using all the leftovers from the Moonbeams Quilt Along. These three scrap quilting projects came together beautifully:
- Creators Club Table Runner – I used the Lil’ Umbrellas pattern by Villa Rosa Designs. (shown Above)
- Lap Quilt – I used the Boardwalk pattern by Betsy Chutchian from the Snuggle Up! book by Moda Fabrics.
- Baby Quilt – A sweet little quilt using pinks and whites with the Chip It Good free pattern by Just Get It Done Quilts.
I purchased 3.5 yards of fabric for backings and bindings to complete these scrap projects.
Designer Mystery 2023 Fabric Leftovers
I also made the most of leftover fabric and bonus instructions from the Fat Quarter Shop’s Designer Mystery 2023 Quilt Along. These scrap quilting projects gave me a chance to get creative while minimizing fabric waste:
Mini Quilt – Using 3″ blocks with small sashing.
Table Runner – Using 12 of the 6″ blocks, all sashed to tie them together.
Console Table Runner – Made with two additional sets of 6″ blocks, also sashed and sized to fit my large console table.
Mini Brick Road Quilt – Enlarged version of Atkinson Designs’ pattern using all remaining scraps.
Backings were pieced using larger leftover fabrics and stash finds.

Seasonal Pillow: Blowing Up Bunnies
This fun project used leftovers from a bunny-themed quilt I made last year. The pillow coordinates perfectly and adds a pop of spring to my décor. I just selected my favorite bunny from the Blowing Up Bunnies quilt pattern by Art East Quilting Co.

Quilt Alongs Progress
Quilt alongs have been a big part of my first quarter quilting update 2025. I’m staying up to date with all three of the QALs I’m participating in:
Designer Mystery 2024
Only two more blocks to go! I’ve been assembling the top as I go, which will make the final assembly quick and satisfying. I’ll be planning a scrap project for the generous amount of leftover fabric.
100 Acre Wood Quilt Along
This adorable quilt is in month 7 of 9. I haven’t started the Tigger block yet, but I’ve kept up with the rest. I’ve been making two of each block using extra background fabric, with only minimal additional purchases to stretch the prints across both quilts. There are still 100 Acre Wood Quilt Kits available for purchase if you love this as much as I do!

Dragon Fruit Quilt Along
This paper-pieced quilt along has pushed my skills in the best way! I’ve kept up so far and also used leftover fabrics to make over 100 Courthouse Steps blocks with 6″ foundation papers. I did purchase 3 yards of Fairy Flakes background fabric to keep these scrappy blocks unified.
Shop Sample Quilt: Make Do and Mend
One special project I completed this quarter was the Make Do and Mend quilt, a free pattern from Tilda Fabrics. I made the quilt in the sage colorway as a shop sample for Clothesline Creations in Middlebury, Indiana. It will be on display during the All Indiana Shop Hop in May and June.
I also created two coordinating pillows. While I haven’t longarmed the quilt and pillows yet, that step is coming very soon!
Cross Stitch Progress
While I haven’t yet fully finished any of the cross stitch projects I set as part of my 2025 goals, I’ve made great progress on one new series! I’ve been keeping up with the Monthly Mini Village cross stitch by Country Cottage Needleworks and have completely stitched the patterns for January through April. All four are ready to be fully finished into pillows, and I’ll be starting the May pattern very soon.
Looking Ahead: 2025 Quilting Goals
This First Quarter Quilting Update 2025 reflects a season of productivity, creativity, and purposeful scrap usage. It’s been rewarding to check off so many finishes and stay on top of my quilt alongs.
Thanks for following along with my quilting journey—stay tuned for my second quarter update, more finishes, and even more ways to turn scraps into something special!
Fantastic post. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing all your projects, especially the door banners. I’ve made a few of those but been at a loss for how to quilt them. Loved yours!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed seeing my progress. I tried to go more general flowy quilting on them. 🙂
