Welcome to Month 5 of the 100 Acre Wood Quilt Along! This adorable quilt is designed by Art East Quilting Co. This month’s Kanga and Roo quilt block features the adorable duo of Kanga and Roo. I was so excited to make this block because their bond is beautifully captured in the design by Art East Quilting Co., and the fabrics from the Riley Blake kit complement them perfectly.

About the 100 Acre Wood Quilt Along
The 100 Acre Wood quilt along is a beautifully designed project featuring adorable pieced blocks that bring Winnie the Pooh and his friends to life. The quilt kit I’m using was purchased through Art East Quilting Co., but Riley Blake also offers kits through various quilt shops, including Fat Quarter Shop. The finished quilt measures 70” x 70”, though Art East is also releasing an alternative pattern for those who want to upsize their quilt to a queen-size version with additional background fabric.
One of the things I love about this quilt kit is that it’s generously cut, leaving extra fabric for each block. I decided to take advantage of this by purchasing an extra background fabric in a slightly darker shade called “Bear Lake” and cutting two sets of blocks each month. This will allow me to make two finished 100 Acre Wood quilts, making great use of the provided fabric while minimizing leftover scraps.

Month 5: Kanga and Roo Quilt Block
In this block, little Roo is nestled comfortably inside Kanga’s pouch, and the block radiates warmth and coziness. Roos face is so tiny but don’t let the little pieces scare you! You start with larger piecing and trim down to make a perfect little face. I especially love how the pattern captures their expressions and the gentle pose of Kanga.
Embroidery Details
There’s no embroidery needed for this block, so I’m one step closer to quilt assembly! As with previous months, I’m cutting double blocks using the extra “Bear Lake” background fabric and making good use of the extra fabric provided in the kit.
Looking Ahead
This block was fun to make, even with the tiny piecing of Roo. It’s another step toward completing both of my 100 Acre Wood quilts. I can’t wait to see all the blocks together as I continue through this delightful quilt along.
