Jolly Bar 5 Quilt Along Kickoff: Fabric Picks & Quilt Along Details
I’m so excited to officially kick off the Jolly Bar 5 Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop! I was invited to quilt along with Kimberly and the Fat Quarter Shop team, and I’ll be sewing right along with them as they share their own progress through their YouTube livestreams, blog (The Jolly Jabber), and social media.

This is going to be such a fun and festive project, and I’ll be sharing updates every two weeks here on the blog leading up to the final quilt reveal on December 31.
About the Jolly Bar 5 Quilt Along
This sampler quilt features blocks from the brand new Jolly Bar Book Vol. 5, and is designed to be an easy and joyful sew-along through the fall and holiday season. Whether you’re quilting from your stash or using one of the gorgeous Jolly Bar collections, it’s a great opportunity to enjoy the rhythm of making one block at a time.
To make your quilt, you’ll need:
- 1 copy of the Jolly Bar Book Vol. 5
- Two Jolly Bars (5″ x 10″ precuts) or One Layer Cake (10″ x 10″ precuts)
- 5.5 yards of background fabric
Fat Quarter Shop will be releasing each block every two weeks starting August 13, and I’ll be sharing my blocks here as I go. I’ll also include my fabric picks for each block and a finished photo for inspiration.
My Fabric Selections
For my version of the Jolly Bar 5 sampler, I chose the Berry & Pine collection by Lella Boutique. It’s a classic Christmas fabric line with soft reds, greens, greys, and a cozy winter feel—perfect for this time of year and so beautifully designed.
To complement the prints, I’m using the Christmas Magic Dot fabric, also by Lella Boutique, for my background. It features a crisp white base with evenly spaced dots in festive red, green, and grey—just enough print to keep things interesting without stealing the show.
I’ll be using these fabrics throughout the quilt and selecting different prints for each block as we go. I’ll share my picks and my final block each week to show how it all comes together.
