Dreamer Quilt Finish – Wild Honey by Lella Boutique

Sharing is caring!

There is something really satisfying about finally finishing a quilt that has been in progress for a while — especially one with this many small pieces like the Dreamer Quilt.

Today I’m sharing my finished Dreamer quilt, designed by Vanessa Goertzen of Lella Boutique. I made this version using her Wild Honey fabric collection, and it feels like the perfect summer quilt for our home.

Fabric & Planning

I was able to score a fat quarter bundle of Wild Honey early at H+H Americas last year when I attended as a content creator. It’s always such a treat to see collections in person before they release, and I knew immediately I wanted to make Dreamer with it.

For the background, I paired the bundle with Vanessa’s white-on-white Magic Dot fabric — a subtle print that adds texture without competing with the blocks.

Before cutting, I starched all of my fat quarters and yardage. With this pattern especially, that step mattered. Dreamer has a lot of small pieces and a lot of repetitive sewing. Stabilizing everything from the beginning made those smaller units behave so much better.

I separated my fat quarters into two piles, dividing up the colors for the two different block types. That helped me keep the layout balanced and made the repetitive sewing feel more organized.

Piecing the Dreamer Quilt

I pieced the quilt exactly according to the pattern. No modifications — just steady, consistent sewing.

This is not a “quick weekend quilt.” It’s one of those patterns that rewards batching and patience. I worked on my blocks in stages over time rather than trying to power through all of them at once. Breaking it into manageable sections made it much more enjoyable.

Finished size: 71½” x 71½”

It’s a great throw size — large enough to feel substantial but still manageable on the longarm.

Quilting & Finishing

Once the Wild Honey collection officially released, I purchased my backing and binding so I could finally finish it.

  • Backing: Wild Honey Sky Wildflower Dance
  • Binding: Magic Dot Carnation yardage
  • Pantograph: Flowers Rise Again Edge-to-Edge by My Creative Stitches
  • Quilted on: My longarm

I quilted it myself using the Flowers Rise Again pantograph. The soft floral movement complements the Wild Honey prints beautifully without overwhelming all of the piecing.

The Magic Dot Carnation binding frames everything perfectly and ties back into the warm pinks and corals in the collection.

Summer Living Room Plans for the Dreamer Quilt

This quilt is staying with me.

I’m planning to use it in my living room this summer alongside another quilt I made from Wild Honey — the Bloom & Buzz pattern. The two together create such a cohesive seasonal look without being overly themed.

There’s something special about seeing multiple quilts from the same collection living together in a space. It makes the effort of sewing them feel even more worthwhile. And bonus: I was able to use the one fat quarter bundle to make both quilt tops with the additional yardage.

Dreamer definitely required patience — lots of small pieces and plenty of repetitive stitching — but I love how it came together. It’s structured, balanced, and still soft and cheerful thanks to Wild Honey.

This one was worth the slow stitching.
