The Tigger quilt block is bouncing into Month 7 of the 100 Acre Wood quilt along, and it’s full of playful energy! This month’s block features a lively side view of Tigger frolicking along a tree branch. His bold stripes and two-tone orange fabric give him depth and character, and he brings a burst of joy to the growing Winnie the Pooh quilt designed by Art East Quilting Co.

About the Tigger Quilt Block
This Tigger quilt block might just be the most energetic of the whole 100 Acre Wood quilt along! The block captures Tigger in motion as he bounds along a sturdy branch, tail up and stripes flying. Art East Quilting Co. did a fantastic job translating Tigger’s iconic shape and bounce into a pieced design that’s both detailed and fun to sew.
What really makes the block pop are the two different orange fabrics used for Tigger’s body. The contrast between them helps his stripes stand out beautifully, adding a sense of motion to the block. Whether you’re a fan of fussy cutting or just love a great fabric combo, this block offers some fun opportunities to play with color and texture.

Tips for Sewing the Tigger Quilt Block
Although Tigger’s shape includes several small pieces, the instructions from Art East Quilting Co. are clear and easy to follow. I took extra time cutting my pieces and labeling them with Alpha-bitties. If you’ve never used Alpha-bitties, they are the perfect way to organize your cut pieces with little plastic tiles with letters on them. I’m using two of the regular sets and one expansion set to keep all of these pieces organized for this block. If you’re making two quilts like I am, this is a great block to cut in duplicate—I only had to buy a small amount more of two of the fabrics.
If you’re working on a Winnie the Pooh quilt, this block adds a touch of whimsy and fun to your collection of characters. Whether you sew Tigger in a single session or take your time with the piecing, the end result is well worth the effort.
