I’m so excited to be participating in the 100 Acre Wood Quilt Along hosted by Art East Quilting Co. and today I have the Winnie the Pooh quilt block to share with you! This quilt along spans nine months, with each month featuring a new quilt block inspired by the beloved world of Winnie the Pooh.

About the 100 Acre Wood Quilt Along
The 100 Acre Wood quilt along is a beautifully designed project featuring adorable pieced blocks that bring Winnie the Pooh and his friends to life. The quilt kit I’m using was purchased through Art East Quilting Co., but Riley Blake also offers kits through various quilt shops, including Fat Quarter Shop. The finished quilt measures 70” x 70”, though Art East is also releasing an alternative pattern for those who want to upsize their quilt to a queen-size version with additional background fabric.
One of the things I love about this quilt kit is that it’s generously cut, leaving extra fabric for each block. I decided to take advantage of this by purchasing an extra background fabric in a slightly darker shade called “Bear Lake” and cutting two sets of blocks each month. This will allow me to make two finished 100 Acre Wood quilts, making great use of the provided fabric while minimizing leftover scraps.

Month 1: Winnie the Pooh Quilt Block
The first block of the 100 Acre Wood quilt along is the Winnie the Pooh quilt block, which features Pooh floating in the sky while holding onto a balloon. The design also includes small bees fluttering around him, adding the perfect whimsical touch.
At first glance, the Winnie the Pooh quilt block looks complex due to the number of pieces, but Art East’s patterns are so well written that it comes together beautifully. Despite the intricate piecing, I found the instructions clear and easy to follow. I love how the block captures Pooh’s classic charm!
Embroidery Details
Throughout the 100 Acre Wood quilt, there are small embroidery details that bring the quilt to life. For the Winnie the Pooh quilt block, the embroidery is used to stitch the string connecting Pooh to his balloon. Rather than embroidering each block as I go, I’ve decided to complete all the embroidery at the end before assembling the quilt top. This will help keep my stitching consistent and allow me to enjoy the piecing process first.
Making the Most of Extra Fabric
One of my quilting goals this year is to be more intentional with fabric usage—using up extra fabric within projects rather than accumulating scraps. Since the 100 Acre Wood quilt kit provides a generous amount of fabric, I’m cutting two blocks from the provided prints each month. By the end of the quilt along, I’ll have two finished quilts, making the most of my materials while reducing waste. I may need to purchase a little additional fabric or substitute pieces here and there, but I love the idea of putting every bit of fabric to good use!
Looking Ahead
I can’t wait to see how the rest of the 100 Acre Wood quilt blocks come together in the coming months! This quilt is already shaping up to be such a fun and rewarding project, and I’m looking forward to the next adorable character we get to piece.
