Designer Mystery Month 11

It’s time the Fat Quarter Shop Designer Mystery month 11 block. Each month, participants receive a package of fabric and a quilt pattern for the block of the month from Fat Quarter Shop. Every month’s block is designed by a different quilter in the industry. This month is the Daffodil block designed by Stacy Iest Hsu.

Designer Mystery Month 11 – The Daffodil Block

The Daffodil quilt block made up of 4 square in a square units and several sew and flip corners to make a lovely block. By using creative fabric placement a star is revealed in the middle of the quilt block.

Extra Quilt Blocks

This year, to help use up the extra fabric from the Designer Mystery kit, Fat Quarter Shop has provided cutting instructions for additional block sizes each month. The dedicated Designer Mystery Facebook page has cutting instructions for a 6″ and 3″ block. So far I’ve been able to make both of the extra sizes and STILL have extra fabric every month. Each month before making the quilt blocks, I pull out any scraps of the same print I have left from previous months. This way I’m making efficient use of any leftovers. This will leave me with the larger pieces as leftovers at the end of the quilt along.
