A Quick Quilt Along Recap

This quilt along started in late February using the Cherry Tree Lane Panel Quilt pattern and the A Spoonful of Sugarfabric collection by Jennifer Long.

Over the course of several weeks, we worked through:

  • Lamppost blocks
  • Multiple house blocks (with lots of fussy cutting opportunities)
  • Kite blocks
  • Panel trimming and quilt top assembly

Each step was broken down into manageable pieces, making this a very approachable project for beginners while still being enjoyable for more experienced quilters.

Finished Quilt Details

The finished quilt measures approximately 70 1/2″ x 90″, and I have to say โ€” I really love this size.

Itโ€™s longer than many quilts, which I personally appreciate (especially being on the taller side ๐Ÿ˜„). It makes a great throw quilt and would also work beautifully as a kids quilt or bed topper.

Fabrics

The combination of prints and coordinating basics worked so well together and really helped bring the whole storybook theme to life.

Quilting Details

For the quilting, I chose theย Freshwater Pearl pantograph by OESD, which adds a soft, flowing texture across the quilt.

I used Glide thread in Light Grey, which blended beautifully across all of the different colors and prints on the quilt top.

This is one of my favorite thread choices when working with a quilt that has a lot of color variation โ€” it adds texture without drawing attention away from the design.

Final Thoughts

This quilt along was a really enjoyable process, even with a few hiccups along the way.

There were a couple of pattern adjustments needed and a few spots where things didnโ€™t line up perfectly (looking at you, kite blocks ๐Ÿ˜…), but overall this quilt came together beautifully.

And at the end of the day, this project is a great reminder that:

Finished is better than perfect.

Once everything is quilted and bound, those little imperfections fade into the background and what really stands out is the overall design.

Where This Quilt Is Headed

For now, this quilt is going to live in the shop as a sample.

But I already know it will eventually find its way into my home โ€” most likely for my grandkids to enjoy one day.

And honestly, that feels like the perfect ending for a quilt like this ๐Ÿ’›

Thank You for Sewing Along

If you followed along with this quilt along โ€” whether you made every block, are still working through it, or are just getting started โ€” I hope you enjoyed the process as much as I did.

This has been such a fun project to share, and Iโ€™ve loved seeing how everything came together week by week.

And if youโ€™re still working on your quilt, keep going โ€” youโ€™re so close to the finish line
